Ryzen 5 1500X vs Ryzen Z1 Extreme specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme is faster than the Ryzen 5 1500X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 1500X in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 1500X has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 1500X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 1500X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 1500X. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1500X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
