Ryzen 5 1500X vs Core i7-10850H specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-10850H beats the Ryzen 5 1500X in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 1500X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-10850H has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 1500X has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 1500X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 1500X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-10850H. Despite this, the Core i7-10850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-10850H outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 1500X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1500X has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i7-10850H. The Ryzen 5 1500X also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1500X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
