Ryzen 5 1500X vs Core i3-9100 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 1500X beats the Core i3-9100 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-9100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 5 1500X has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 5 1500X. Also, the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 1500X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-9100. The Ryzen 5 1500X also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1500X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
