Ryzen 5 1400 vs Xeon E5-2420 v2 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 1400 performs better than the Xeon E5-2420 v2. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2420 v2 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2420 v2 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 1400 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 1400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2420 v2. Also, the Ryzen 5 1400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 1400 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2420 v2 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 1400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
