Ryzen 3 5300G vs Core i9-9900 comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-9900 is faster than the Ryzen 3 5300G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 5300G in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i9-9900 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 3 5300G has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 5300G. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 5300G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-9900. Despite this, the Core i9-9900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Core i9-9900 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 5300G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
