Ryzen 3 4300U vs Core i7-8850H comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8850H is faster than the Ryzen 3 4300U. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 4300U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-8850H has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 4300U that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 4300U. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 4300U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-8850H. Despite this, the Core i7-8850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 4300U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-8850H CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 4300U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8850H. Despite this, the Core i7-8850H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 4300U.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 4300U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
