Ryzen 3 4300G vs Core i7-8700 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-8700 performs better than the Ryzen 3 4300G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 4300G in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-8700 has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 3 4300G. Indeed, the Core i7-8700 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 3 4300G. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 4300G. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 4300G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8700. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 4300G has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8700. Despite this, the Core i7-8700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 4300G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 4300G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
