Ryzen 3 3300X vs Ryzen 9 5900HX specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 5900HX beats the Ryzen 3 3300X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 3300X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5900HX has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 3300X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 3 3300X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 5900HX. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5900HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 5900HX outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 3300X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900HX has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 3300X. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3300X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
