Ryzen 3 3300X vs Ryzen 9 4900HS comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 4900HS performs better than the Ryzen 3 3300X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 3300X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 4900HS has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 3300X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 3300X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Ryzen 9 4900HS outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 3300X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 3300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3300X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 4900HS.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3300X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
