Ryzen 3 3300X vs Core i7-9700 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700 beats the Ryzen 3 3300X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 3300X in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-9700 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 3 3300X has 4 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 3300X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 3 3300X also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3300X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
