Ryzen 3 3300X vs Core i5-11400 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-11400 performs better than the Ryzen 3 3300X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 3300X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-11400 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 3300X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 3300X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-11400. Despite this, the Core i5-11400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-11400 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 3300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3300X has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-11400.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3300X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
