Ryzen 3 3300U vs Core i7-2820QM benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 3300U beats the Core i7-2820QM in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-2820QM in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-2820QM has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-2820QM has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 3300U. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3300U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 3300U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-2820QM CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Ryzen 3 3300U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
