Ryzen 3 3200U vs Xeon W3520 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 3200U beats the Xeon W3520 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3520 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon W3520 has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 3 3200U. Indeed, the Xeon W3520 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Ryzen 3 3200U. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon W3520 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 3200U. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3200U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 3200U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3520 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Xeon W3520 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3200U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
