Ryzen 3 3200G vs Core i7-4790 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-4790 performs better than the Ryzen 3 3200G. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3200G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-4790 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-4790 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 3200G. A Ryzen 3 3200G CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4790 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 3200G has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-4790. Despite this, the Core i7-4790 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 3200G.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 3200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
