Ryzen 3 3200G vs Core i5-8300H benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8300H beats the Ryzen 3 3200G in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3200G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i5-8300H has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 3200G has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8300H. The Core i5-8300H outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 3200G thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3200G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8300H. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 3200G.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 3200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
