Ryzen 3 3100 vs FX-4100 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 3 3100 performs better than the FX-4100. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-4100 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 3 3100 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the FX-4100 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-4100. Both the Ryzen 3 3100 and FX-4100 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 3100 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-4100 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Ryzen 3 3100 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3100 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
