Ryzen 3 3100 vs Core i5-11400 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-11400 beats the Ryzen 3 3100 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 3100 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-11400 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 3100 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 3100. Both the Ryzen 3 3100 and Core i5-11400 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i5-11400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-11400 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 3 3100. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 3100 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-11400.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 3100 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
