Ryzen 3 2300X vs Xeon E5-2670 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 3 2300X is faster than the Xeon E5-2670. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2670 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2670 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 3 2300X has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2670. Also, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300X CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2670 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
