Ryzen 3 2300X vs Xeon E5-2630 v2 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2630 v2 beats the Ryzen 3 2300X in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2630 v2 has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2630 v2 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 3 2300X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2630 v2. Also, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300X CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2630 v2 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
