Ryzen 3 2300X vs Xeon E5-2620 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2620 performs better than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2620 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 2300X that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 2300X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2620. Also, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300X CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
