Ryzen 3 2300X vs Ryzen 5 3400G benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 3400G is faster than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2300X in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 5 3400G has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 3400G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 2300X. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 3 2300X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
