Ryzen 3 2300X vs FX-6300 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 2300X beats the FX-6300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-6300 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 3 2300X has slightly more cores than the FX-6300. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2300X has 4 cores compared to 3 cores found in the FX-6300. Despite this, the FX-6300 has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Both the Ryzen 3 2300X and FX-6300 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300X CPU outputs less heat than a FX-6300 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 3 2300X. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
