Ryzen 3 2300X vs Core i7-7700 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-7700 beats the Ryzen 3 2300X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2300X in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i7-7700 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 2300X. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2300X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
