Ryzen 3 2300X vs Core i7-6700 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-6700 is faster than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2300X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-6700 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-6700. Also, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 3 2300X has more L2 cache than the Core i7-6700. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones.
