Ryzen 3 2300X vs Core i7-4770K comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-4770K performs better than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-4770K has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4770K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 3 2300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4770K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 3 2300X has more L2 cache than the Core i7-4770K. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
