Ryzen 3 2300U vs Xeon E5-2620 v3 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2620 v3 performs better than the Ryzen 3 2300U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2300U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2620 v3 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Ryzen 3 2300U has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300U. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2620 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 2300U. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2620 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
