Ryzen 3 2200U vs FX-8300 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-8300 is faster than the Ryzen 3 2200U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2200U in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the FX-8300 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Ryzen 3 2200U has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2200U. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 3 2200U. Also, the FX-8300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2200U CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8300 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8300 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 2200U. The FX-8300 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2200U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
