Ryzen 3 2200G vs Ryzen 7 2700 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 2700 performs better than the Ryzen 3 2200G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2200G in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 2700 has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 2200G that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2200G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 2200G has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 2700. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 2700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 2200G. The Ryzen 7 2700 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
