Ryzen 3 2200G vs Core i7-8705G specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-8705G performs better than the Ryzen 3 2200G. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-8705G has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2200G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8705G. Despite this, the Core i7-8705G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2200G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8705G. Despite this, the Core i7-8705G has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 2200G.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
