Ryzen 3 2200G vs Core i7-8700K comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-8700K performs better than the Ryzen 3 2200G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2200G in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-8700K has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 3 2200G. Indeed, the Core i7-8700K has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 3 2200G. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2200G. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-8700K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 3 2200G. Also, the Core i7-8700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2200G CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-8700K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 2200G has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-8700K. Despite this, the Core i7-8700K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 2200G.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
