Ryzen 3 2200G vs Core i7-2700K specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-2700K beats the Ryzen 3 2200G in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-2700K has more threads. In terms of clock speed, the Ryzen 3 2200G and Core i7-2700K are identical in this regard. Despite this, the Core i7-2700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2200G CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-2700K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
