Ryzen 3 2200G vs Core i5-7400 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 2200G beats the Core i5-7400 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-7400 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 3 2200G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-7400. Also, the Ryzen 3 2200G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 2200G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7400. Despite this, the Core i5-7400 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 2200G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
