Ryzen 3 2200G vs Core i5-1235U comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-1235U beats the Ryzen 3 2200G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2200G in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 2200G that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2200G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 2200G has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Despite this, the Core i5-1235U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 2200G thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-1235U has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 3 2200G. The Core i5-1235U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2200G has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
