Ryzen 3 1300X vs Core i7-8650U benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 1300X beats the Core i7-8650U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8650U in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i7-8650U has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 3 1300X has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8650U. Despite this, the Core i7-8650U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-8650U outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1300X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 1300X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-8650U. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
