Ryzen 3 1300X vs Athlon 64 X2 4000+ benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 3 1300X beats the Athlon 64 X2 4000+ in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon 64 X2 4000+ in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 3 1300X has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Athlon 64 X2 4000+ that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Athlon 64 X2 4000+. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 1300X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Athlon 64 X2 4000+. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 1300X has significantly more L2 cache than the Athlon 64 X2 4000+
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
