Ryzen 3 1200 vs Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U is faster than the Ryzen 3 1200. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 1200 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 1200. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 1200 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1200 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 3 1200. The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
