Ryzen 3 1200 vs Ryzen 5 4500U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 4500U beats the Ryzen 3 1200 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 1200 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 1200 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 1200. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 1200 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 4500U. The Ryzen 5 4500U outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1200 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 4500U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 3 1200. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
