Ryzen 3 1200 vs Ryzen 5 3500U benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 3500U performs better than the Ryzen 3 1200. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 5 3500U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 1200 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 3500U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 3500U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 3500U outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1200 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Ryzen 3 1200 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
