Ryzen 3 1200 vs FX-8320E comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the FX-8320E performs better than the Ryzen 3 1200. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the FX-8320E has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-8320E has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 1200. A Ryzen 3 1200 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8320E CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
