Ryzen 3 1200 vs Core i7-8705G specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-8705G is faster than the Ryzen 3 1200. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-8705G has more threads. In terms of clock speed, the Ryzen 3 1200 and Core i7-8705G are identical in this regard. Despite this, the Core i7-8705G has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 3 1200 has more L2 cache than the Core i7-8705G. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
