Ryzen 3 1200 vs Core i7-4790 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-4790 beats the Ryzen 3 1200 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 1200 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-4790 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4790 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 3 1200. Also, the Core i7-4790 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 1200 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4790 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 1200 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-4790. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
