Ryzen 3 1200 vs Core i7-4700MQ comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 3 1200 performs better than the Core i7-4700MQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4700MQ in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-4700MQ has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 1200 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-4700MQ. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Core i7-4700MQ outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1200 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 1200 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-4700MQ. The Ryzen 3 1200 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
