Ryzen 3 1200 vs Core i3-8100 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i3-8100 beats the Ryzen 3 1200 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 1200 in all gaming tests too.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 3 1200. Also, the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 1200 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-8100. The Ryzen 3 1200 also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
