Radeon RX 7900 XTX vs GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX beats the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER in gaming performance.
In our comparison, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has significantly more memory with 24 GiB of memory compared to 16 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER has a slightly lower TDP at 340 W when compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XTX at 355 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 7900 XTX over the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.
