Radeon RX 7900 XT vs GeForce RTX 4090 D benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 4090 D beats the Radeon RX 7900 XT in gaming performance.
The GeForce RTX 4090 D has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4090 D also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the GeForce RTX 4090 D has slightly more memory with 24 GiB of memory compared to 20 GiB. If you're planning at playing games at high resolutions with high-quality textures, you will need a lot of memory.
In addition, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has a slightly lower TDP at 315 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 4090 D at 425 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce RTX 4090 D is better than the Radeon RX 7900 XT.
