Radeon RX 7800 XT vs GeForce RTX 5080 specs and performance
For gaming, the GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card is better than the Radeon RX 7800 XT in our tests.
In our comparison, the GeForce RTX 5080 has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the GeForce RTX 5080 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that they both have the same amount of memory at 16 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Radeon RX 7800 XT has a slightly lower TDP at 263 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 5080 at 360 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce RTX 5080 is better than the Radeon RX 7800 XT.
