Radeon RX 6900 XT vs GeForce RTX 4070 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 6900 XT beats the GeForce RTX 4070 in gaming performance.
The GeForce RTX 4070 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4070 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 6900 XT has slightly more memory with 16 GiB of memory compared to 12 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, both the Radeon RX 6900 XT and the GeForce RTX 4070 have an identical TDP. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Radeon RX 6900 XT is faster than the GeForce RTX 4070.
