Radeon RX 6800 XT vs Radeon RX 7700 XT benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 7700 XT beats the Radeon RX 6800 XT in gaming performance.
The Radeon RX 6800 XT has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. Despite this, the Radeon RX 7700 XT has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 6800 XT has slightly more memory with 16 GiB of memory compared to 12 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon RX 7700 XT has a slightly lower TDP at 245 W when compared to the Radeon RX 6800 XT at 300 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 7700 XT is better than the Radeon RX 6800 XT.
