Radeon RX 6800 vs Radeon RX 7900 XT benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 7900 XT beats the Radeon RX 6800 in gaming performance.
Our database shows that the Radeon RX 6800 has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. Despite this, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has slightly more memory with 20 GiB of memory compared to 16 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Radeon RX 6800 has a slightly lower TDP at 250 W when compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XT at 315 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 7900 XT over the Radeon RX 6800.
