Radeon RX 590 vs Radeon RX 7900 XT benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 7900 XT beats the Radeon RX 590 in gaming performance.

In our comparison, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 7900 XT also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.

As stated by the manufacturer, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has significantly more memory with 20 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.

In addition, the Radeon RX 590 has a significantly lower TDP at 175 W when compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XT at 315 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 7900 XT is better than the Radeon RX 590.
